About Me
I’ve always been passionate about design and storytelling, which led me to study Animation at the University of the Arts Utrecht. After graduating I worked in London before returning to Amsterdam where I continued in production for Advertising. Following an exciting period in the Dutch capital as a twenty-something-year old, I moved to California, where the film & visual effects industry was booming.
I joined the creative studio Colossal Pictures and there I met my partner - Betsy. We soon started our own design and animation studio, Little Fluffy Clouds. Betsy and I collaborate on every project together. She’s a talented writer with an exceptional creative eye and I consider myself very fortunate to be part of such a small but inspiring creative team.
The combination of art, storytelling, and technology has always fascinated me. As technology evolves, so do the possibilities for creative expression. While I love exploring new tools and developing custom software to support our work, I always believe that storytelling should remain at the heart of every project.
Photography provides a welcome contrast to animation and takes me away from my desk and into the "real" world. Unlike animation, where every detail is carefully controlled, photography is about responding to what unfolds in front of you. Changing light, weather, wildlife, and people constantly create unexpected moments. You never really know what you'll come home with. Although the process feels less directed than animation - I’m still searching for that story.
I’m also drawn to the tactile nature of photography. You're working with a camera and pressing real buttons - and yes, I do suffer from GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).
The three of us live on the California coast in a really nice community, just steps away from rolling hills, beaches and the redwoods. I'm out there every day with my Border Collie - Strike. He's my wingman on countless adventures and he makes the experience even more fun.
